High Springs wins award: The International City/County Management Association has awarded the city of High Springs the Program of Excellence Award for Sustainability for cities with a population under 10,000 for its farmer's market and community garden program.

The association reviewed more than 100 applications from around the U.S., Canada, Australia and the world.

"Even though High Springs is a small city, there is much talent in the many volunteers that live here," said City Manager Jim Drumm.
The Farmer's Market is on Thursdays at James Paul Park, behind City Hall, from 2 to 7 p.m. The market began in 2000 to give farmers an alternative to selling along the roadways.
